CV Joints
CV joints – “Constant-velocity joints” allows the driveshaft to transmit power through a variable angle, at a constant rotational speed, without an increase of friction or play. CV joints are protected by a rubber boot, called a CV gaiter, it is packed with grease and sealed tightly and, as long as these boots are protected your CV joints can last very long without any maintenance. Cracks and splits in these boots will allow the joints to wear quicker and the boot gets damaged, this will allow for the grease to come out and moisture and dirt will go in causing the CV joint to fail due to lack of lubrication and corrosion. Usually the outer CV joint boot breaks first, because it has to endure more movement than the inner one.
Front Wheel Drive
Front-wheel drive cars have CV joints on both ends of the drive shafts. The inner CV joints connect the drive shaft to the transmission. The outer CV joints connect the drive shaft to the drive wheels, so the CV joints also have to be able to deliver the torque to the front wheels during turns. The two most commonly used CV joints are: a ball-type and a tripod-type. The ball-type CV joints are used on the outer side of the drive shaft, and the tripod-type is mostly used on the inner side of the drive shaft in front-wheel drive vehicles
There are also many rear- and four-wheel drive cars and trucks that have CV joints.
Our suppliers unbeatable CV’s are designed using innovative 3D modelling and design systems to ensure a precision engineered part, crafted to the exact OE specs. Carburised heat treatment of the steel ensures optimum heat and erosion resistance, while a molybdenum coating on the ball groove and cage make it perform even better. We offer you a two year guarantee on this product.
